Mother Teresa's Redemption?

I was first introduced to Mother Teresa's "crisis of faith" over at The Other Mohler's blog. In his article, he pulled out some intriguing (and disturbing) quotes that caused me to read the entire article.

As I read the article, I was struck by the absolute void of the Word of God. It is not mentioned. It is not quoted. It is not even alluded to. Mother Teresa's religion seemed to be separate from the searching of the Scriptures. It was so sad and baffling as I read it that I couldn't really get my thoughts out into words.

But Rick Phillips does say it in an excellent way.

Someone mentioned in your other post that there needed to be a workshop titled, 'How to be a Better Lay-Person'. As I was driving home from work today the thought hit me, we are! Your notice of the absence of the Word from Mother Teresa's writings answers the question as to why she lacked assurance of salvation and fulfillment in her life.

So....my friend, if you want to become a better lay-person, or pastor, or husband, or servant, or employee, or...or...or....read, study, meditate, ruminate, focus on, devote yourself to the Word of God!!

Or just pray the prayer of Jabez. :)

Mother Teresa's story reminds me of Paul's words in 1 Cor. 13.1-3.

What if I prayed the prayer of Jabez for 40 days...?

Then your territory would expand on purpose! But not as much as if you prayed the prayer of Jabez for 40 days in God's love language while reading any one of the 14,500 Max Lucado titles.

Are you indicating that I was proposing a method for a 'good life'? 'Cuz if you were, you obviously don't know me well......

Danny - just curious as to what your overall view of the Catholic Church is? As in 'brothers in Christ' or 'largest cult in the world' - or somewhere in between?

i would say there are some brothers in Christ within the Catholic church...but they are not very good catholics.

if you understand the catholic doctrine, you understand that their view of justification is wrong...therefore, largest cult in the world.

interestingly, this language will be considered too strong by many who sit weekly in PROTESTANT churches (just what do they think we are protesting?). futhermore, it is just the language of a man who has been anathematized by the papists.

Danny - That is my exact thought on the Catholic church as well. And an excellent point about what we are "protesting" - most garden variety church folk don't have a clue to the idolatry and perversion within the Catholic church.
