Answers to the above questions...
1. How do you not lose a game and drop in the polls? When the team below you beats a top-10 team like Arkansas. Wins over top-10 teams have this strange effect of impressing voters, especially late in the season.
Michigan has two wins like that (Wisc, Notre Dame), but both of those teams hadn't beaten anyone significant.
Florida now has several of those types of wins (LSU and Arkansas are most impressive). LSU and ARK are better than any team Michigan has beaten this year.
2. Why ask such an obvious question? The Pac-10 champion is AUTOMATICALLY sent to the Rose Bowl, unless they make the title game.
The big conferences are locked in to these BCS games.
Very easy questions to answer, actually, and please ask any more that come to mind.

wow, a wailer sighting!!!!!!
i agree. it's not so much that michigan dropped in the polls during a bye week, it's that florida passed them after having another high quality win.
as for usc. i hope this does curb some of the big10 bashing this year. michigan, ohio state and wisconsin COMBINED for only 2 losses on the season. meanwhile, the pac10 representative has two pretty lousy losses on their record. but then again, when has the pac10 really ever been anything.
